Williams Scores 1,000th Career Point on Saturday

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team fell to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Saturday afternoon, 56-82.
Wright State (6-14, 2-7 HL) will remain home to take on Robert Morris on Sunday, January 25. Tipoff in the Nutter Center is slated for 2 p.m.
Breezie Williams led four Raiders in double figures with 14 points on the day. Joining Williams in double digits were Lauren Scott and Maja Dilen with 11points, and Ellie Magestro-Kennedy with 10 points. Dilen's 11 points tie a career-high for her, which she set against Youngstown State on Wednesday. Williams was tied with Grace Okih for the team high in rebounds with seven apiece. Olivia Brown led the team with five assists.
Williams entered Saturday afternoon with 997 career points, just three points shy of passing the 1,000 career-point mark. The senior surpassed the 1,000-career point mark on a layup with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Wright State started the game hot, building up to an 11-point lead with 5:55 remaining in the second quarter. The Norse would counter-punch with a 15-2 run of their own. Williams would hit a three-pointer with less than two seconds of the clock to give the Raiders a one-point advantage as the team went into the locker rooms for halftime.
Northern Kentucky would take over the game in the second half, outscoring the Raiders by 14 points in the third quarter and 13 points in the fourth quarter to close out a 26 point road win.
Taysha Rushton led Northern Kentucky with 17 points. Joining her in double digits was Karina Bystry with 15, Abby Wolterman with 14, Maddie Moody with 11, and Mia Jordan with 10.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Northern Kentucky in rebounds (36-40), points in the paint (16-38), fast break points (2-8), and bench points (14-21) while leading in second chance points (15-12).
