Raiders Come Up Short of IU Indy Saturday

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team came up short of IU Indy Saturday afternoon in the Nutter Center, 63-73.
Wright State (7-18, 3-11 HL) will hit the road next week for its annual two-game road trip through Michigan. The road trip will tip off Thursday night at Detroit Mercy before continuing to Oakland Saturday afternoon.
Breezie Williams finished with a game-high 21 points, five steals, and four assists. It marks Williams' seventh 20+ point performance and second in a row after scoring a career-high 28 points Thursday night against Purdue Fort Wayne. Lauren Scott finished with 12 points to join Williams in double digits, followed closely by Claire Henson and Rylee Sagester with eight points each.
IU Indy started the game white hot from three-point range, knocking down its first four shots of the game all from downtown. The Raiders kept pace by knocking down three triples of their own to trail 15-17 after the first 10 minutes.
The Raiders would tie the game up at 32 as they entered the locker room at halftime. Led by Williams with 14 points on six of seven from the floor and two of two from three to start the game.
The two sides exchanged buckets and runs in the third, with IU Indy holding a two-point advantage going into the final 10 minutes.
The Jaguars would pull away in the fourth quarter, knocking down one more field goal and five more free throws than the Raiders to build out to an eight-point win.
Nevaeh Foster led IU Indy with 17 points, three assists, and tied for the team lead with two steals. Three more Jaguars finished in double digits, with Destini Craig, Olivia Smith, and Ariana Williams all finishing with 10 points. Smith also finished with a game-high 12 rebounds to turn in a double-double.
In the box score, Wright State trailed IU Indy in rebounds (23-44), bench points (16-23), and second-chance points (11-16). The Raiders led the Jaguars in points in the paint (26-20) and fast break points (11-3).
