Volleyball earns fifth-straight AVCA Team Academic Award

DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team was among the 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball programs nationally that have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award this season, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Thursday.

This is the fifth consecutive season and 11th time overall that Wright State has earned the recognition.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

Former Raider Elana Duboc was named an honorable mention to the Horizon League's 2025 Volleyball All-Academic Team last November, while nine Wright State volleyball student-athletes were named to the Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll and Spring Academic Honor Roll. Both honors recognize student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and have completed at least three semesters at the same institution.

Three former Raiders completed their degree requirements and graduated during Wright State's spring commencement ceremonies. Duboc and Andrea Bortulin earned their undergraduate degrees, while Taylor Bransfield completed her master's degree.
