Wright State Extends Horizon League Men's Basketball Coach of the Year Clint Sargent Through 2030-31

Wright State has secured the future of its men's basketball program, announcing Horizon League Coach of the Year Clint Sargent has agreed to a contract extension through 2030-31.
DAYTON — Following one of the most memorable seasons in program history, Wright State University has secured the future of its men's basketball program, announcing that Horizon League Coach of the Year Clint Sargent has agreed to a contract extension through 2031.
Sargent guided the Raiders to a historic 2025-26 season that included the program's first Horizon League regular-season and tournament championship sweep, a return to the NCAA Tournament, and a thrilling first-round performance against Virginia that captivated a national audience during what became the most-watched opening week in NCAA Tournament history.
Under Sargent's leadership, Wright State has reestablished itself as one of the premier programs in the Horizon League while continuing to build momentum on the national stage.
"Clint has built tremendous momentum within our program and I know the best is still ahead," director of athletics Brad Chandler said. "His leadership and vision have positioned us for continued success, and we're excited about the potential of what we can accomplish."
Sargent's impact on the program extends well beyond his first season as head coach. Since arriving at Wright State and serving as associate head coach before taking the reins in ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Raiders have captured six Horizon League championships between regular-season and tournament titles. During that span, Wright State earned NCAA Tournament appearances in 2018, 2022, and 2026, including the program's first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament victory with a First Four win over Bryant in 2022.

"Having grown up in this community as a coach, I am especially grateful for the strong foundation built by former coaches, players, and everyone who has invested in this program.
