DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team opened Saturday's doubleheader with a sweep of Eastern Illinois inside the Nutter Center, defeating the Panthers in three sets.

Wright State (2-0) will be back in action later today to take on Marquette at 7 p.m. Fans who cannot make it to the Nutter Center can follow the action live on ESPN+.

Wright State had to battle through a tight opening set before pulling away for the sweep. The Raiders erased a late Eastern Illinois rally to claim the first set 26-24 before taking set two 25-23. Wright State then dominated the third set, jumping out to a 12-2 advantage and cruising to a 25-10 victory to close the match.

The Raiders finished the afternoon hitting .327 as a team while holding Eastern Illinois to a .126 attacking percentage. Wright State recorded advantages in kills (50-30), assists (48-40), digs (53-40) and blocks (8-7).

Katie Sowko led the offensive attack with 14 kills while hitting .357 and adding 10 digs for a double-double. Abigail Knight added 10 kills and eight blocks, hitting .500 for the match, while Mya Ayro finished with eight kills and two service aces. Olivia Schmidt chipped in six kills, and Reilly Zegunis collected seven kills to go along with four blocks.

Lauren Yacobucci directed the offense with 35 assists while adding three kills and nine digs. Taygan Corstange paced the back line with 14 digs as Wright State placed two players in double figures defensively.

Eastern Illinois was led by Katie Kopshever's 14 kills. Peyton Castillo added nine kills and a match-high 21 digs, while Anaya Rawlinson recorded six kills for the Panthers.
