Women’s Soccer Wraps Up Non-Con Play Against Indiana State

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (2-3-1) will return home to wrap up non-conference play Sunday afternoon as they welcome Indiana State to Alumni Field. First touch is slated for 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SYCAMORES
Indiana State enters Sunday at 4-1-3 on the season and is coming off a 2-1 win at Morehead State on Thursday night. Offensively, the Sycamores are led by Freshman Emely Lopez who leads the team in points (13), assists (5), and is tied for the team lead in goals (4).
HISTORY VS. INDIANA STATE
Sunday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between Wright State and Indiana State, a series the Raiders lead 2-1. The Sycamores came out on top 2-1 when the two squads last met at Alumni Field in 2018.
LAST TIME OUT
Wright State came up short Thursday night on the road, falling 2-1 to Bellarmine.
Bellarmine opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Campbell Tippey found the back of the net off an assist from Makenzie Simpson. The Knights added a second goal just before halftime as Brooklyn Donohue converted in the 45th minute following a save by Leigha Lauer to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
The Raiders pushed forward in the second half and nearly cut into the deficit midway through the period. Wright State earned a penalty kick in the 67th minute, but the opportunity went unanswered.
Wright State broke through in the 77th minute when Olivia Stroud played a ball to Caitlin Burger, who buried her fourth goal of the season to trim the deficit to one.
The Raiders continued to apply pressure over the final 15 minutes, generating several scoring chances, including a saved shot from Chloe Dunford in the 83rd minute, but were unable to find the equalizer.
Leigha Lauer recorded nine saves in net for the Raiders while facing 20 Bellarmine shots.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Bellarmine in shots (20-7) and shots on goal (11-2). The Raiders held a slight edge in possession percentage (55-45) while Bellarmine led in corner kick opportunities (9-7).
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.
