Williamson Announces Addition of Curtis Johnson to Coaching Staff

DAYTON – Wright State cross country and track and field head coach Rick Williamson has announced the addition of Mackenna Curtis Johnson to his coaching staff.

"We are extremely excited to have Mackenna join our staff," Williamson said. "She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm. Her ideals fit perfectly with the core principles of our Track & Field and cross-country programs."

Curtis Johnson joins the Raiders after spending time with On as a technical representative. Before that, she was part of the Roots Running Project in Boulder, Colorado. In 2024, Curtis Johnson ran the 10,000m in 32:47.14 at the Stanford Invite. She also placed in the top 10 at the 2023 USATF 10K Championships.

A Lexington, Ohio, native, Curtis Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Malone University, where she was an All-American and two-time G-MAC Runner of the Year. She then earned her master's degree in Liberal Studies from Wake Forest University. While at Wake Forest, she set the school record in the 3,000m in 9:00.91 and the mile in 4:38.17. She qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in the 5,000m in 2022 with a time of 16:02.07.
