Women’s Soccer Set for First #HLWSOC Road Test at IU Indy

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (2-5-1) will make the quick trip west to IU Indy for its first Horizon League road test of 2026. First touch in Indianapolis is slated for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IU Indy enters the week at 2-5-2 on the season, and 0-1 in Horizon League play. The Jaguars lost their conference opener Saturday afternoon, falling 2-3 to Milwaukee. Annaliese Black and Keilah Muldrow are tied for the team lead with eight points each.
HISTORY VS. IU INDY
Thursday will mark the 16th all-time meeting between Wright State and IU Indy, a series the Raiders lead 9-3-3. Wright State came out on top 3-2 when the two squads met in Indianapolis a season ago.
LAST TIME OUT
Chloe Dunford scored the lone goal of the match in the second half as the Wright State women's soccer team opened Horizon League play with a 1-0 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday evening at Alumni Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Raiders broke through in the 54th minute. Caitlin Burger and Olivia Stroud combined to set up Dunford, who found the back of the net for her third goal of the season to give Wright State a 1-0 advantage.
The Raiders controlled much of the opening 45 minutes, holding a 6-2 edge in shots while limiting the Colonials to just one shot on goal. Olivia Stroud recorded Wright State's lone shot on target of the first half, forcing a save from Robert Morris goalkeeper Emma Cameron.
Robert Morris increased the pressure after halftime, registering 10 second-half shots, but Leigha Lauer and the Raider defense stood firm. Lauer made five of her six saves in the final 45 minutes, including stops on Madison Sievering, Ava Trethewey, Sydney Chontos, Sophia Cucchetti and Fiona Fraser to preserve the shutout.
Wright State generated several chances to add insurance late in the match. Ruby Dunlevy and Taliah Pellizzari each put shots on target in the closing minutes, but Cameron kept the Colonials within striking distance with a pair of saves.
Lauer finished the night with six saves to earn the shutout victory, while Cameron recorded three saves for Robert Morris.
In the box score, Wright State led Robert Morris in shots (13-12), shots on goal (4-6), possession percentage (59-41) and corner kick opportunities (1-1). Dunford scored the match's only goal, while Burger and Stroud each recorded an assist.
#HLWSOC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wright State sophomore goalkeeper Leigha Lauer has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday.
Lauer recorded her second shutout of the season in Saturday's conference-opening win over Robert Morris. Lauer started and played all 90 minutes in between the posts for the Raiders, recording six saves.
Lauer picks up her second weekly award after being named the HL Defensive Player of the Week on August 17.
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.

Wright State finished 2025 with a 7-7-5 overall record and a 4-1-5 mark in Horizon League play, making the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinal before falling to Green Bay 3-1.
