DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team earned a straight-set victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at C.J. McLin Gymnasium, defeating the Huskies 25-17, 25-11, 25-19.

Wright State (7-5, 2-0 HL) will be on the road to open the month of October at Oakland on October 2 and Cleveland State on October 3.

The Raiders controlled the opening set from the outset, hitting .394 while limiting the Huskies to a .097 attacking percentage. Wright State used a 7-1 run midway through the frame before closing out the set on a kill from Mya Ayro.

Wright State carried that momentum into the second set, posting a .370 hitting percentage while holding Northern Illinois to a .000 mark. The Raiders used a 13-3 stretch to build separation before cruising to a 25-11 set victory and a 2-0 match lead.

The Huskies stayed within striking distance early in the third set, but Wright State responded with a 9-3 run to seize control. During the set, Reilly Zegunis surpassed the 1,000-career-kill milestone, becoming the latest Raider to reach the mark. Wright State closed out the sweep behind key kills from Zegunis, Mya Ayro and Haley Robinson.

Zegunis and Katie Sowko shared the team lead with 11 kills apiece. Zegunis hit .455 for the match, while Sowko added 15 digs to record a double-double. Ayro finished with 10 kills and a .471 hitting percentage.

Lauren Yacobucci directed the Raider offense with 35 assists while adding four kills, three service aces and nine digs. Abigail Knight and Sowko paced the defense with 15 digs each, while Taygan Corstange recorded 12 digs.

In the box score, Wright State hit .372 as a team and held Northern Illinois to an .084 attacking percentage. The Raiders finished with advantages in kills (41-27), assists (38-19), service aces (11-7), digs (86-55) and total team blocks (12-3).
