DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team continued Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational action Saturday with a three-set loss to Ball State inside the Nutter Center.

Wright State (2-3) will wrap up the weekend against Dayton in the Nutter Center Sunday afternoon. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+.

The Raiders battled through a marathon opening set before Ball State pulled away over the final two sets to complete the sweep.

The opening frame featured 26 ties and 10 lead changes as neither side could gain separation. Wright State fought off multiple set points and erased late deficits before Ball State eventually secured a 32-30 victory. The Cardinals carried that momentum into the second set, hitting .545 as a team on the way to a 25-16 win before closing the match with a 25-12 third-set victory.

Ball State finished the afternoon hitting .366 as a team while holding Wright State to a .169 attacking percentage. The Cardinals recorded advantages in kills (53-41), assists (53-41), digs (54-42) and blocks (5-3)

Katie Sowko led the Raiders with nine kills and added 10 digs for a double-double. Reilly Zegunis collected seven kills, while Mya Ayro finished with seven kills and Olivia Schmidt added five. Ella Seeger chipped in five kills, and Abbey Knight recorded four kills.

Lauren Yacobucci passed out 30 of Wright State's 38 assists while adding three kills and 12 digs. Taygan Corstange paced the back line with 16 digs as the Raiders placed three players in double figures defensively.

Audrey Geer led all players with 17 kills for Ball State, while Ava Smith added 13 kills and Madison Buckley recorded 10 kills. Reese Axness directed the Cardinals' offense with 28 assists in the victory.
