The Wright State men's soccer team was able to overcome a first-half deficit to the visiting Panthers of Eastern Illinois on Senior Night at Alumni Field Sunday to win 2-1. Braden Fleak notched his 13th goal of 2006, while Josh Grossman notched his fourth mark of the year on the game-winning goal.
The Panthers struck first in the first half in the 30th minute when a David Amdor touch pass connected off the foot of Brad Peters for his ninth goal of the year and put the visiting squad in a 1-0 lead.
Playing a man down in the 69th minute the Raiders caught the break they had been looking for when Josh Grossman slipped a one touch pass to Milovan Milosevic who sent the pass downfield to a streaking Fleak who beat EIU keeper Paul Jennison to tie the game. The goal tied Fleak for ninth on the All-Time Leaders board for goals in a season with Jim Kinderdine from the 1986 squad. The goal also made Fleak the number one single-season goal scorer since Wright State's move to Division I.
Grossman would add the final blow in the 76th minute when a Kwaku Gyimah shot deflected off the hands of Jennison and directly to Grossman who thundered home the winning goal.
The Raiders finish their regular season stint at 8-9 overall and 1-6 in the Horizon League. WSU will find out who they will take on in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament on Monday, October 23, to begin their bid for a tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
