Women Defeat Butler 1-0 for First League Win

The Wright State women's soccer team ended a three game winless streak with a 1-0 victory on the road over Horizon League foe Butler on Friday afternoon. The Raiders lone goal was score by sophomore midfielder Jess Rooma as goalkeeper Steph Comisar moved into first place on the Wright State all-time shutout list with the blanking of the Bulldogs.

After a scoreless first half in which WSU took seven shots, Rooma took a pass off the foot of junior forward Desire Morris at the 61:38 mark in the second half and beat Butler keeper Kirby Zwickel from ten yards out for her third goal of the season. The assist was Morris's third of 2006.

Wright State senior goalkeeper Steph Comisar made two saves for her fifth shutout of the season and the 20th of her career. The shutout moves Comisar into sole possession of first place all-time in shutouts in the program's history.

The Green and Gold out shot the Bulldogs 15-4 and owned an 8-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Wright State (8-2-3, 1-2-1 Horizon) looks to continue its winning ways as the Raiders travel to Ohio State on Wednesday, October 11, for a 7:30 contest.
