Athletic Communications

Athletics Communications is responsible for writing press releases and feature stories, coordinating media relations and game day staffing for home events, oversight of the athletics website, creating special publications, providing statistical and historical information, and coordinating video and photography efforts.

Media Information

INTERVIEWS: Interviews with coaches and student-athletes are not only welcome, but are also encouraged. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests. However, course schedules, practice, travel and games may impact the availability of both coaches and student-athletes.

As a general rule, student-athlete interviews will not be accommodated on game-day prior to the game. Student-athletes and coaches will be available for postgame comments and questions.

If interested in attending practice, please contact the athletic communications office ahead of time to ensure that practice is open to the media. Phone interviews are also available, as needed.

Under NO circumstances will contact information of student-athletes be provided.

CREDENTIALS: All requests for press, photo and scout passes must be made through the athletic communications staff. Passes can be picked up prior to the game for men's and women's basketball.

PARKING FOR BASKETBALL: Limited media parking is available on Lot 5 by the loading dock of the Nutter Center for men's basketball and must be pre-arranged through the media relations office.

GAME SERVICES FOR BASKETBALL: Pregame information will be available in the press room located on the first floor of the Nutter Center. In-game statistics are available live via wsuraiders.com. Printed stats will be provided at halftime/intermission and post game.

GAMEDAY INTERNET ACCESS:
Nutter Center: Limited number of high-speed ports are available for broadcast media while wireless internet is available for all.

VISITING RADIO: Visiting radio crews MUST request credentials through their school's athletic communications office. There are hardwire internet lines and POTS lines available for radio broadcasts.

TV COVERAGE: Parking for the broadcast/production truck(s) is in the loading dock area. TV news/sports crews using "live shot" vehicles must coordinate with the athletic communications office in advance. TV coverage of Wright State Basketball (broadcasts or "live shots") and the reservation of parking space must also be cleared in advance through the athletic communications staff, who will put the crew in touch with the appropriate Nutter Center personnel.

Of note...
Priority is granted to media entities that cover Wright State Athletics on a regular and substantial basis, which includes coverage of press conferences, home and road games, and to visiting media members, using the following priority structure:

  1. Broadcast partners, including television and radio personnel responsible for live broadcasts of Wright State Athletics.
  2. Full-time local beat reporters who cover the team on the daily basis for large-scale local print and broadcast outlets, including newspapers, wire services, radio stations and television affiliates that cover Wright State Athletics on a regular basis.
  3. Full-time radio and television personnel producing reports on Wright State Athletics competitions. Credentials will be reserved for stations with a full-time sports director that provide regular and substantial coverage of Wright State Athletics.
  4. Large-scale national outlets, including national newspapers, magazines, television stations, websites and more.
  5. University-recognized student publications and student outlets that provide regular coverage of Wright State Athletics.
  6. Eligible online-only outlets, with preference given to sites utilizing full-time journalists. Outlets' affiliations with larger, national networks and the breadth and frequency of their editorial content will also be taken into consideration when prioritizing amongst online-only outlets.
  7. As the result of limited work space, credentials will typically not be issued to freelance writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing by the assigning organization.
