The Wright State women's soccer team took the lead just two minutes into the contest and added a late tally to defeat Austin Peay in the Wright State Classic on Sunday afternoon. Amber Kasmer netted her first career goal in the 2-0 triumph over the Governors.

The Green and Gold struck early in the contest when Amber Kasmer took a long lead pass from Amy Miller and chipped a shot over the APSU keeper for an early goal. Kasmer raced past the Governors defenders to corral the Miller pass and chipped a shot over a diving keeper for her first goal as a Raider.

Wright State attempted 14 shots and held Austin Peay to only one in the first half as WSU took a 1-0 lead into half time.

In the second half, the Raiders continued to launch shots at APSU keeper Michelle Smith, attempting 12 more shots. The Green and Gold watched shots hit the crossbar twice and once knocked a shot off the post.

Then in the 84th minute, the Raiders struck on a corner kick off the foot of freshman Trisha Stevens. Stevens sent the corner kick to the back post and Miller headed the ball far post for her fourth goal of the season.

Hackerson made two saves in the contest and faced only three shots on goal, with one glancing off the crossbar.

WSU attempted 26 shots in the contest and attempted five corner kicks in the match. Kasmer led the way with six shots and a trio of Raiders attempted three shots in the contest.

Wright State is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 1990 season. The next action for the Raiders will be on Tuesday, September 4 against Ohio State in Columbus at 7:30.
