
Women Fall in RMU Thanksgiving Tournament Championship

Wright State trailed by just two at the break, but could not overcome Robert Morris shooting 63 percent in the second half as the Colonials won the RMU Thanksgiving Tournament title with a 65-57 win over the Raiders Sunday in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
WSU jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage, only to see Robert Morris followed with seven straight points to take the lead for the first time. The Raiders again went up 24-21 on a LaShawna Thomas layup with 5:38 remaining, but the Colonials would again go on a run, this time 10-2, and held a 35-33 edge at the half.
Robert Morris shot 52 percent from the field in the first half, including a perfect three-for-three from three-point range, while Wright State hit for 39 percent overall and was one of nine from behind the arc.
The Colonials extended the margin to 51-39 with a 16-6 burst over the first 4:25 of the second half, with the Raiders getting no closer than seven the rest of the way.
RMU finished at 57 percent shooting overall and was seven of 10 from three-point range while WSU shot 39 percent altogether and was four of 19 from behind the arc.
Thomas, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led the Raiders with 15 points while Shey Peddy, who joined Thomas on the All-Tournament Team, added nine points, six assists and six steals.
Tournament MVP Monet Johnson paced Robert Morris (2-3) with 26 points while fellow All-Tournament honoree Kendra Williams had 20. Angela Pace chipped in 11 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and seven steals.
Wright State (2-2) opens the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday as the Raiders host Miami for a 7:00 contest.
