Softball Drops Pair in Day Two of Bulldog Round Robin

The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Bulldog Round Robin in Starkville, Mississippi, falling to Southern Illinois 7-5 and host Mississippi State 5-2.
Southern Illinois scored three runs in the top of the first, but the Raiders answered with three of their own in the bottom of the inning. Jamie Perkins led off with a triple to right center and came home on a Mollie Berry single. A double steal involving Berry and Kristen Bradshaw results in the second run and Bradshaw scored the third run on a RBI single by Ashleigh Jackson.
Wright State added two in the fifth as Bradshaw led off with a walk and Allison Cox followed with a two-run home run to left center.
The Salukis, though, scored three times in the fourth to take the lead for good and added another run in the sixth to round out the scoring.
Perkins, Jackson and Bridget Henry each had two hits to pace the Raider offense.
In the second game, WSU scored twice in the top of the first on a two-run Bradshaw double, but #22-ranked Mississippi State scored twice in the bottom of the frame and added single runs in the third, fourth and sixth.
Bradshaw and Jherica Williams each had two hits for the Raiders.
Wright State, now 0-4 on the season, wraps tournament play on Sunday against Fordham starting at 11 a.m. Eastern time.
