Softball Falls to Fordham in Final Day of Bulldog Round Robin

The Wright State softball team concluded play at the Bulldog Round Robin in Starkville, Mississippi, Sunday, falling to Fordham 11-9.

Kristen Bradshaw opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first and provided the key blow for a five-run second with a two-run triple.

Fordham cut the margin to 7-3 with two in the second and one in the third, but WSU answered with a run in the fourth on a RBI single by Allison Cox.

The Rams, however, used seven hits and took advantage of two Raider errors in scoring eight times in the bottom of the fifth to go up 11-8.

The Raiders picked up a run in the top of the seventh on a Justine Shilt single to center, but could get no closer.

Bradshaw, Jherica Williams and Cox each had two hits to pace the Raider offense. Jamie Perkins, who scored three runs, was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Wright State, now 0-5 on the season, heads to Tampa next weekend for the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament. On Friday, February 22, The Raiders will take on host South Florida at 6 p.m. followed by Wisconsin at 8 p.m.
