The Raider offense produced 18 runs and 25 hits on the day as Wright State swept a Horizon League doubleheader from Green Bay Saturday afternoon at the WSU Softball Field, the Raiders coming from behind to take the opener 7-3 and picking up an 11-3 run-rule decision in the second game.
WSU opened the first game scoring with two in the first on a RBI single from Kristen Bradshaw and an Allison Cox sacrifice fly, only to see the Phoenix go in front in the fourth with three runs. Missy Schleicher doubled in the first two and Melani Niederer followed with a hit to plate Schleicher.
Heather Bauer, though, tied the game at three in the fifth with her first collegiate home run, a solo shot to left center, and the Raiders went in front to stay with four more runs in the sixth. After hits from Bradshaw and Cox resulted in runners at second and third, Justine Shilt reached on an error to produce a run and the final three came in on RBI singles from Mollie Berry, Bauer and Malerie Klingler.
Sharon Palma (8-6) picked up the win as she struck out six in as many innings.
The Raider offense was again in gear in the early going of game two as WSU scored three times in the first. Jamie Perkins led off with a home run to center, her fifth of the year, and after Jherica Williams had a one out triple to right center, Bradshaw just cleared the left field fence with her fifth home run of the season.
The Phoenix picked up an unearned run in the second, but Wright State answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the frame as Michelle Logan singled, stole second and scored as Perkins dropped a single into right.
Berry made it 5-1 with a run-scoring hit in the third and then the Raiders broke it open in the fourth with four more runs on pair of two-run singles from Williams and Bradshaw.
Green Bay (6-14, 0-4 Horizon) scored twice in the fifth, but WSU forced the run-rule with a run in its half of the fifth and another in the sixth as Bridget Henry singled in Bradshaw, who led off with a triple.
Ashleigh Jackson (4-5) earned the win as she struck out five in four innings of work. Bradshaw paced the Raider offense in the second game with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored while Perkins also had three hits along with two RBI and two runs scored.
Wright State, now 15-16 overall and 4-2 in the Horizon League, wraps up the three-game series with Green Bay with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m.
