Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Butler

Box Score

The lone goal of the game came on a great sequence from visiting Butler and the Wright State women's soccer team couldn't connect on the equalizer in a 1-0 loss Sunday at Alumni Field.

The Raiders had a handful of chances in the opening half and recorded the first shot on goal in the 15th minute when Amber Kasmer launched a shot from eight yards out that was saved by Butler's Jessica Schein. Just seven minutes later, in the 22nd minute, WSU goalkeeper Meghan Hackerson kept the scored tied when she corralled a Molly Kruger attempt.

The two teams remained scoreless for the first 21 minutes of the second stanza before Butler would score on a scramble play in the box. After Katie Griswold crossed a ball into the box from the right flank, Kruger connected and sent a shot towards the net. Hackerson was in position to make the save, but Lindsey Fox redirected the shot to the far post and put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0.

The Bulldogs held a 6-5 edge in shots, with WSU taking the only corner kick in the contest. Hackerson made two saves in the match, with Schein making one save.

Wright State (8-5-2, 3-1 Horizon) closes out the regular season with a four-match road trip, starting with Green Bay on Friday, October 16, at 8:00.
