Women's Soccer Defeats Detroit 2-1

Box Score

A goal by Amber Kasmer early in the second half proved to be the game-winner as the Wright State women's soccer team held on for a 2-1 decision over the Detroit Titans in Horizon League action Friday night at Alumni Field.

WSU opened the scoring at the 19:15 mark of the first half on a Bekah Bonny goal off an assist by Jenna Cooper. It was Bonny's second goal of the season and Cooper's first assist of the year.

Kasmer then extended the lead to 2-0 at the 49:13 mark of the second half on a goal off a corner kick, her fourth goal of the season.

Detroit's Alyssa Korson tallied her first goal of the year at the 63:11 mark to cut the margin to 2-1, but the Titans would get no closer as the Raiders snapped their five-match losing streak.

Wright State (4-7, 1-2 Horizon) hosts Youngstown State at 1:00 Sunday at Alumni Field. It will be the opening game of a doubleheader as the WSU men follow by hosting UIC at 3:30.
