Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 at Butler

Box Score

For the fifth consecutive match, the Wright State women's soccer team came up one goal short as a Butler goal midway through the first half proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs won 1-0 in Horizon League action Sunday afternoon at the Butler Bowl in Indianapolis.

The Butler score came at the 24:16 mark of the first half as Katie Griswold recorded her sixth goal of the season, a header off a corner kick by Sarah Phelps.

The Raiders outshot the Bulldogs (3-7, 1-0 Horizon) 6-4 in the second half, but could not come up with the equalizer as Butler goalkeeper Olivia Walter preserved the shutout and tallied five saves in the process.

Morgan Butler recorded four shots for WSU while Amber Kasmer and Brittany Persaud each had two.

After playing eight of its first 10 matches on the road this season, Wright State (3-7, 0-2 Horizon) will have six of its final eight contests of the regular season at Alumni Field, starting with a pair of Horizon League games next weekend. The Raiders host Detroit on Friday, October 1, at 5:00, followed by Youngstown State on Sunday, October 3, at 1:00.
