A Justin Laird goal with just under 20 minutes remaining forced overtime as the Wright State men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Milwaukee Saturday night.
Bryce Rockwell-Ashton gave WSU an early 1-0 lead at the 15:26 mark of the first half as he moved by several defenders and connected on a shot from the left flank for his fifth goal of the season.
Milwaukee, however, tied it at the 58:32 mark of the second half and the Panthers went ahead with another goal 10 minutes later.
Laird, though, drew the Raiders even with a goal at the 70:38 mark, his fifth of the year. Brian Cothern and Rockwell-Ashton each recorded an assist on the goal, Cothern's second of the season and Rockwell-Ashton's third.
It stayed that way for the remainder of the contest despite the Panthers having a 6-1 shot advantage in the extra periods.
"Milwaukee is historically a tough place for Wright State to get good results at," said assistant coach Jake Slemker. "Our boys played their hearts out and even after a 110 minutes of soccer, they were hungry for more."
Wright State (6-4-2, 2-1-1 Horizon) steps out of league play on Tuesday with a 7:00 contest at Virginia Tech.
