Box Score The Wright State women's soccer team tallied a goal in each half in posting a 2-0 decision over Belmont in its home opener Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Senior MacKenzie Hamilton opened the scoring for the Raiders at the 8:43 mark in the first half with her first goal of the season. After a shot by sophomore Bryce Hueber was knocked away by the Belmont goalkeeper, Hamilton connected on the rebound. It was Hueber's second assist of the year.
WSU added an insurance goal at the 58:35 mark of the second half as sophomore Madison McKinney scored off a corner kick from Sarah Colvin. It was McKinney's first goal of the season and the second assist for Colvin.
Senior goalkeepers Halle Pyle and Kelsey Deal combined on the shutout as Deal recorded two saves and Pyle one.
The Raiders outshot the Bruins 17-9 and led in corner kicks 10-5.
Wright State (2-2) takes on a pair of local rivals next weekend as the Raiders host Miami on Friday, September 4, followed by crosstown rival Dayton on Sunday, September 6, at UD's Baujan Field. Both matches start at 7:00.
