Women's Soccer Takes on Milwaukee in Semi-Finals of the Horizon League Championship

Wright State women's soccer (12-7, 6-3) advances to the Horizon League semi-finals to take on top seed Milwaukee (15-0-3, 7-0-2) on Thursday evening at 8:00 pm.

With the four seed in the Horizon League tournament, the Raiders used a strong second half to win 2-1 over UIC on Monday evening advancing them to the semi-finals and a meeting with top seed Milwaukee.  At the end of September, the Raiders fell to the Panthers 2-1 on a goal in the last ten minutes of the match.  Wright State is currently riding a four game win streak in to this contest.  First-Team All-Horizon League member Sarah Colvin leads the Raiders in scoring with seven goals on the season, including the game winning goal against UIC in the quarterfinals.  Teammates Niki Romero, Aaliyah Patten and Mattie Cutts were named to the Second-Team All-Horizon League team. 

Milwaukee

Milwaukee (15-0-3, 7-0-2) is coming off one of the most successful regular seasons in program history enabling them to earn a bye in the conference tournament and the top seed.  The Panthers have allowed only six goals on the season.  They are lead on defense by First-Team All-Horizon League athletes Cassidy Blanchard and Kellie Swenson and Second-Team All-Horizon League goalkeeper Mallory Geurts.  On offense, the Panthers are anchored by First-Team All-Horizon League selections Lourdes Onwuemeka, Anna Smalley and Aubrey Krahn who have combined for 24 assists and 22 of the 43 goals scored this season.     
 
Regular Season

The Panthers were victorious over the Raiders on September 30 by a score of 2-1.  The Raiders scored first at the 51:08 mark off of a header from Mattie Cutts.  The Panthers answered back 50 seconds later with a goal by Aubrey Krahn.  With 8:19 left in the game, Sydney Senn scored the game winning goal for the Panthers.   
 
Next Up

The winner of this match will take on the winner of the #2 Northern Kentucky and #3 IUPUI match on Saturday at 7:00 pm est. for the Horizon League Championship in Milwaukee.  All matches can be viewed on ESPN3.
