Alexyse Thomas gave WSU a 36-35 edge with a layup at the 6:31 mark of the third period and Wright State finished the quarter with a 7-2 burst, capped by an Antania Hayes three, to go up 46-42 heading to the final stanza.
WSU led 55-47 on a Chelsea Welch layup midway through the fourth quarter, but back came Youngstown State as the Penguin cut the margin to 61-59 with 1:50 left.
Emily Vogelpohl, however, connected on a key three from the left corner with 44.9 seconds to play to make it a two-possession game and after Taylor connected on a runner in the lane at the 9.5-second mark, Vogelpohl hit two foul shots with three seconds left to seal the victory.
With the win, the Raiders extended their winning streak to 13 games, tying the 1986-87 squad who won 13 in a row in the program's final season in Division II.
The Raiders shot 42 percent for the game, 56 percent in the final quarter, while YSU shot 52 percent. Wright State, though, forced 22 turnovers while committing only seven, resulting in a 27-11 differential in poitns off of turnovers. WSU also led 12-3 in second-chance points.
Welch led the Raiders with 21 points and added seven rebounds, six assists and six steals while Simmons nearly posted a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Vogelpohl added nine points while Lexi Smith, Taylor and Hayes had seven each.
Wright State (22-5, 14-1 Horizon), winners of 18 of its last 19, wraps up the three-game, five-day road swing on Monday, February 20, with a 7:00 matchup at Detroit Mercy.
