The Wright State softball team rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to within one, only to see Ohio break the game open with eight total runs in the second and third innings to defeat the Raiders 14-6 Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first, but back came WSU with four runs in the bottom of the frame. With two out, Vivi Marquez doubled to center and scored on a hit by Libby Pfeffer. Alexis Mayle followed with double to make it 5-2 and the final two runs came in on wild pitches.
Ohio, however, tallied a single run in the second and seven more in the third to go up 13-4. Wright State scored twice in the fourth on a pair of wild pitches, but could get no closer as OU added a run in the sixth to round out the scoring.
Mayle had two hits for Wright State (3-13), who is off until facing Dayton in a home-and-home March 21-22.
