Women's Soccer Hosts Two Matches This Weekend

Women's Soccer will host two home matches this week. Friday evening, the Raiders begin the Horizon League season with a match against Youngstown State. Capital University drives over from Columbus to take on the Raiders on Sunday. Both matches will start at 7:00 pm. Friday's game will be shown live on ESPN3.
Wright State
WSU is 4-4 on the season after going 1-1 last week with a 3-0 victory over Valparaiso and a loss to Bowling Green. The Raiders have won three of their last five contests, including 2 shutout victories. Picked to finish fifth in the Horizon League preseason rankings, the Raiders will look to start off their conference season with a victory on Friday evening. Sarah Colvin leads the Raiders with three goals while NIki Romero has two with one assist.
Youngstown State
The Penguins come to town on Friday with a 4-4 record having lost their last three matches. They are 2-4 on the road. The Horizon League preseason rankings had the Penguins slated eighth. The Penguin offense is lead by senior midfielder Kyler Lum with four goals and one assist while senior Marissa Martin, a 2016 Second-Team All-Horizon League honoree, with two goals on 16 shots.
Capital
The Crusaders (2-2) are coming off of a 2-0 victory against DePauw University on Saturday, giving them a full week rest before taking on the Raiders on Sunday. Located in Bexley, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, the Crusaders are an NCAA Division III program and members of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Capital was selected second in the preseason league rankings. They are led by sophomore forward Jordan Fike with 16 shots, nine on goal, and one finding the back of the net. Both Crusaders' losses have come against Division III ranked teams in #8 Thomas More and #22 Carnegie Mellon.
Series
The Raiders are 17-1-2 all time versus the Penguins, including a 2-1 overtime victory last year at Youngstown with both goals scored by midfielder Mattie Cutts. Sunday's match-up with Capital University will be the first ever with the Raiders.
