Women's Soccer Play Two Strong Conference Opponents This Week

Wright State women's soccer (7-4, 2-0) heads to Northern Kentucky (5-4, 2-0) Wednesday for a 7:00 pm game and back home against Milwaukee (10-0-1, 2-0) on Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 pm match-up.
Wright State
WSU is currently riding a three-game winning streak to move its record to 7-4, 2-0 on the season. Last week, the Raiders hit the road for a conference game against Green Bay and battled for a 2-1 victory. Senior Sarah Colvin continued her strong play over the last two weeks by adding a goal against the Phoenix to run her total to two goals and five assists during the win streak. This season marks the first time the Raiders have started 2-0 in conference play since 2013.
Northern Kentucky
Defending Horizon League Champions Northern Kentucky (5-4, 2-0) comes in to their contest with the Raiders riding a two-game winning streak, both conference victories over Youngstown State and Illinois-Chicago. Picked to win the Horizon League in 2017, the Norse had lost three straight one-goal matches against Murray State, Cincinnati and at Xavier before starting their current win streak. The Norse are led by senior forward Jessica Frey with seven goals on the season. Frey was the 2016 Horizon League Championship MVP. 2016 Horizon League Player of the Year senior forward Macy Hamblin combines with Frey for a strong attack adding five goals of her own. Junior goalkeeper Emily Lohmann has posted a 1.14 goals against average on the season, making 32 saves and allowing nine goals.
Milwaukee
Milwaukee (10-0-1, 2-0) is off to a very strong start this season by winning ten straight games after starting the season off with a tie. A marquee win this season came back on September 17 with a 2-1 home victory over #19 Marquette. The Panthers are led by senior midfielder Anna Smalley with eight goals and four assists. Forwards Aubry Krahn and Mackenzie Schill have combined for 11 goals and four assists on the season. Anchoring the strong Panther defense is redshirt senior goalkeeper Mallory Geurts who has played all 1010 minutes this season, allowing just two goals for a 0.18 goals against average. The Panthers defense and goalkeeping has combined for nine shutouts in 11 matches this season.

The Raiders have yet to beat the Northern Kentucky Norse in three previous games. Milwaukee leads the series with the Raiders with a 9-23-6 record.

The Raiders will stay put and welcome Oakland University to Alumni Field on Saturday, October 7 at 7:00 pm.
