Women's Soccer Dominates in 3-0 Victory Over Valparaiso

The Wright State women's soccer team moved to 4-3 on the season with a 3-0 non-conference victory over Valparaiso (4-3) at Alumni Field Friday evening.

First Half Highlights

Senior Sarah Colvin scored her third goal of the season at the 9:34 mark of the first half following a beautiful assist from Mattie Cutts.  It was her second on the season.  The Raiders played the majority of the first half on their own offensive end.

Second Half Highlights

The Raiders continued to control the field in the second half and were able to notch the second goal of the game ten minutes in, following a relentless attack starting with a save by Valparaiso goalkeeper Kezia Gasell on a free kick by Niki Romero and finally put away by sophomore defender Andrea Gomez for her first of the season.  Junior Kayla Schrubb's perfect cross to the back post found sophomore forward Jordyne Helinski at the 61 minute mark for her second of the season.

Wright State matched its season high with three goals and posted their third team shutout of the season.  Behind a strong defensive effort, Goalkeeper Maddie Jewell grabbed her second shutout with a four-save night.

Next Up

The Raiders (4-3) will travel up Interstate 75 to take on Bowling Green (3-2) this Sunday at 1:00 pm.
