Women's Soccer

Third-Place @WSU_WSoccer Preps for Important Week

The Wright State women's soccer team takes to the road this week, as Horizon League regular season play begins to wrap up for the Raiders. The green and gold will travel to face Youngstown State on Wednesday and round out the week at Cleveland State on Sunday, their penultimate match of the regular season.

Raider Round-Up
While the Raiders (5-6-2, 4-1-1 Horizon League) struggled in their first four road matches against nationally recognized talent (0-4), they have been very strong on the road as of late, winning two of their last three road contests. With their strong play recently, the Raiders have placed themselves firmly into the postseason conversation, currently sitting in a tie for third with Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League standings with 13 conference points. Aaliyah Patten continues to lead the Raiders in goals, assists, and points, and the senior from Fairborn, Ohio now leads the Horizon League in shots per game with an average of 3.23. With nine goals in six conference matches, the Raiders are tied for third in both goals and goals per game average.

Scouting Youngstown State
In their final home match of the season, the Penguins (1-11-3, 0-5-1 Horizon League) will welcome the Raiders to Farmers National Bank Field Wednesday evening, still in search of their first Horizon League victory of the season. The Penguins enter Wednesday's contest after two consecutive double-overtime matches, a tie with Oakland on October 6, and a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to UIC October 13. The Penguins have struggled to find the back of the net thus far this season, netting just five goals in 15 matches. Rasheda Abdul-Rahman leads the Penguins offense with a goal and 14 shots on the campaign. Sophomore Kate McEachern has started the majority of matches this season (12), and boasts a .756 save percentage and a 1.79 goals against average.

Scouting Cleveland State

The Vikings (9-4-1, 5-0-1 Horizon League) enter the week of play in the midst of their best start to Horizon League play in program history, sitting in second place with 16 conference points.  Cleveland State is one of just two unbeaten teams remaining in the Horizon League, joining Milwaukee who stands at 6-0-0. The Vikings are off to a solid start to the month of October, with wins over Green Bay and Northern Kentucky. The Vikings will travel to Detroit Mercy on Wednesday before hosting the Raiders Sunday afternoon. McKenna Vento leads the offensive charge for the Vikings, scoring six goals and adding an assist on the season. Stevie Holbrook figures to start in net Saturday against the Raiders, as she has a solid .814 save percentage and a miniscule .82 goals against average in 14 starts between the pipes.

Series
The Raiders have a commanding 18-1-2 series lead over Youngstown State in 21 all-time matches, and also own the series lead against Cleveland State 12-3-1 in 16 all-time matches.
