The Wright State volleyball team picked up an important win Friday night as they defeated IUPUI 3-0 at home by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-13. WSU is now 12-11 and 4-7 while the Jaguars drop to 5-20 and 2-9.
The Raiders were led by 10 kills each from Celia Powers and Alannah Lemming as Teddie Sauer ended with nine kills. Mallory Ladd added eight as WSU hit .279. In the three-set match, Lainey Stephenson collected 36 assists and Jenna Story finished with 30 digs. Sauer also had four aces to pad her Horizon League lead.
First Set
The teams played it tight and exchanged points and leads until the Raiders went up 21-19, winning 25-19. Lemming collected four kills as Powers had three. Stephenson posted nine assists as Story had eight digs. WSU hit .222 overall as a team.
Second Set
Again, the score started neck and neck but the Raider pulled away 19-14 and won 25-19 once again. Ladd and Sauer each had four kills as Lemming hit .600 with three kills. Story ended with 11 digs while Stephenson picked up 12 more assists.
Third Set
Though this set was close early, the Raider pulled away and won 25-13 to notch the match win. Powers picked up half of her 10 overall kills while Lemming, Ladd and Sauer each had three. WSU hit .469 as Stephenson had 15 assists on 17 WSU kills. Story ended with 11 digs
Next Up
The Raiders head to play at Northern Kentucky Sunday at 2 pm. The Norse are 13-8 and 5-5 and will host IUPUI Saturday afternoon. The match will be shown on ESPN3.
