@WSUVBall Drops Sunday Match at NKU

The Wright State volleyball team dropped a Horizon League match at Northern Kentucky Sunday afternoon 3-1 by scores of 25-21, 25-13, 23-25 and 25-19. WSU is now 12-12 and 4-8 while NKU goes to 15-8 and 7-5.
The Raiders were led by Alannah Lemming with nine kills and six blocks and Teddie Sauer with nine kills, three aces and two blocks. Celia Powers ended with eight kills and nine digs as Lainey Stephenson collected 40 assists. Mallory Ladd added seven kills. WSU hit .156 overall while Lemming and Sauer each hit over .250.
First Set
The Raiders and the Norse traded early leads until 9-9 when WSU pulled ahead with leads of 15-12 and 19-15. NKU put on the pressure and tied it at 21 and won 25-21. Ladd had three kills as Sauer picked up three kills and two aces. Stephenson collected 10 assists.
Second Set
The Norse shot out to early leads of 10-3 and 17-10 before winning 25-13. WSU ended with just six kills overall as Sauer had three and Lemming two.
Third Set
The teams stayed within a point or two, including a 14-14 tie. WSU took the 18-16 advantage, then 21-17 on their way to a 25-23 win. The Raiders bounced back with 15 overall kills, led by Powers' five and Taylor Gibson's four. Stephenson had 12 assists, and Jenna Story had nine digs.
Fourth Set
The set was tied at eight each when NKU started to pull away 12-8 and 19-15 to win 25-19. Lemming and Ladd each had three kills with a pair from Sauer and Grace Hauck. Stephenson put up 12 assists.
Next Up
The Raiders come home to host Oakland (9-14, 5-7) Wednesday night at 6 pm. The match is free to the public followed by a free men's basketball game at 7 pm in the Nutter Center.
