Six Raiders Score in Double Figures

The Wright State men's basketball team used double-figure scoring from six players led by sophomore Loudon Love with 20 points to defeat North Florida Saturday afternoon 89-72 at the WSU Nutter Center.  WSU is now 3-1 while UNF drops to 1-3.

Besides Love's performance, Bill Wampler added 17 points followed by freshman Skyelar Potter with 13, Parker Ernsthausen with 12 and Mark Hughes and Cole Gentry with 10 each.  Love, who hit eight field goals and four free throws, also grabbed nine rebounds, three assists and a steal.  Potter ended with seven boards, and Hughes collected five assists.  WSU shot 50% from the field while hitting 11 overall threes, shooting 61% behind the arc.  The Raiders took care of business inside as well with 30 total points in the paint.

First Half
The teams exchanged baskets and leads through the early going until the Raiders pulled away to lead 28-17 midway through the half.  The Ospreys managed to creep back, but WSU led 44-33 at half.  Love connected on five from the field and three from the line to lead the way with 13 points and five rebounds while Wampler hit two threes and four free throws for 10 points and added four boards.  Hughes pitched in eight points. The Raiders shot 44% from the field, but UNF shot 45% as the difference was WSU hit two more three pointers and seven additional free throws plus Wright State held the rebounding advantage 23-13.

Second Half
The Raiders continued their attack, going up by 16 with 15 minutes remaining and 21 points at 70-49 with 10 minutes on the clock. The Raiders held their largest lead of 23 points with 5:35 left in the game at 82-59.  Love, Ernsthausen and Wampler each had seven points in the second 20 minutes while Potter collected all his 13 in the second half.

Next Up
The Raiders load a plane and head to Mexico for the next two games of the Cancun Challenge where they will play Penn State Tuesday at 8:30 pm then the winner or loser of the SMU/Bradley game Wednesday night at 6 or 8:30 pm eastern.  WSU returns home to play Cedarville Nov. 27 at 7 pm.
