Raiders fight back to take the lead, but fall late to CSU Bakersfield
@WSUWBasketball Drops Tough Road Contest to Open Season Tuesday Night

The Wright State women's basketball team opened the regular season late Tuesday night, as they were in California to take on the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners. The Raiders fell behind early in the game, came back and took the lead late in the contest, but were unable to hold off the Roadrunners strong offense late.
First Half
While the Raiders struggled from the floor in the first two quarters, they did a solid job defensively after a quick start to the game for the Roadrunners, who jumped out to as big of a lead as 16 early in the second quarter. The Raiders kept the game in striking distance with their defensive play throughout the first half and entered the locker room trailing by 13.
Second Half
Wright State continued to trail by double digits early in the second half, until the combination of Tyler Frierson down low and perimeter shooting from Mackenzie Taylor, Emily Vogelpohl, and Angel Baker began to pull the green and gold closer in the game. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Raiders had brought the game level, and at one point even took a two-point lead. The Roadrunners would regain and keep the lead late in the game behind Alexxus Gilbert's career-high 20 points, and quality defense in the dying moments of the game.
Up Next
The green and gold will round out their West Coast swing to start the 2018-19 season on Friday, when they travel to Nevada to face the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 9:00 pm eastern time, and can be seen on the Mountain West Digital Network.
