Softball Splits in Charleston

The Wright State softball team opened the Holy City Showdown in Charleston, SC Friday afternoon, beating Furman 7-6 in the morning and falling to Charleston Southern 8-4 in the afternoon.

In game one, the Raiders jumped to a 7-2 lead after five innings before Furman chipped away with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.  Ashley Sharp pitched seven innings for the Raiders to post the win with four strikeouts.  Wright State got a triple from Honnah Susor and doubles from Madison Whitaker and Madison Mills with singles by Macey Gunther, Jordan Kennaw and Kaitlyn Skinner.

In game two, Charleston Southern took a 7-1 lead after two innings and added one in the seventh as the Raiders scored once in the first, twice in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Susor picked up two doubles while Whitaker and Kennaw added two hits each.  Deitrick doubled as Gunther and Dillow each had a hit.  Ally Russell took the loss, pitching two innings and giving up Kennaw was the starting pitcher while Ally Russell
