@WSU_SB Clinches Tournament Spot

The Wright State softball team scored early and often on Friday afternoon, as they cruised to a 7-2 victory over Cleveland State at the WSU softball field. The win clinched a spot in the Horizon League Tournament as only the top six teams qualify for post-season play.

Macey Gunther paced the Raiders on the day by singling and tripling in her first two at bats, accounting for two RBI. Honnah Susor continued her quality play in the leadoff spot by reaching base twice, stealing her 31st base on the season which is second-best in the Horizon League. Jordan Kennaw and Madison Mills also each drove in a run, while Kaitlyn Skinner doubled for an RBI in the fifth inning, later scoring to help provide insurance runs late in the game. The Raiders had six hits on the day, but also reached base on nine walks in the game. Ashley Sharp was dominant once again in the circle for the Raiders, pitching seven innings and only allowing five hits with two earned runs in a complete game outing.

The Raiders improve to 17-30 on the season, and get back to the .500 mark in conference play at 10-10. The Raiders will be back in action on Saturday at 1:00 and 3:00 in a doubleheader against Cleveland State to finish up their three-game series. These two games are the last remaining regular-season games, and will be Senior Day at home for the Raiders.
