@WSU_MBB Wins Big at Cleveland State

Raiders win 89-66

The Wright State men's basketball team made it two straight and three of five wins on the recent road trip with an 89-66 win at Cleveland State Saturday afternoon.  WSU is now 10-10, 4-3 as the Vikings drop to 5-16, 0-8.  The Raiders will play seven of their next nine games at home.

The Raiders fired on all cylinders as they shot 51% from the field and 91% from the line, hitting 29 of 32.  WSU also outrebounded the Vikings 31-22.  Loudon Love led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds as Bill Wampler stayed hot with 21 points, including 11 made free throws.  Cole Gentry added 14 points as he has currently hit 35 straight free throws, going two for two today.  For the weekend, Wright State hit 47 of 50 from the stripe in the two games.

First Half
The Raiders lost the tip but took an early 9-4 lead by the first media timeout as Hughes hit three free throws coming out to go up 12-4.  WSU had an 8-0 run before CSU could hit a three as the Raiders held on 17-9 at 11:17.  Wampler had nine points and was 7-7 from the line as WSU led 26-15 at the eight-minute break.  Wright State kept it at an 11-point lead at 35-24 for the final timeout as the Raiders were already 13-15 from the line.  Cleveland State got hot late in the half, but WSU went to the locker room up 41-31.  Wampler led the way nine points as Love threw in eight with four rebounds.  Keys to the solid 20 minutes were rebounding as WSU won the boards 18-11 and free throws as the Raiders hit 14 of 16.

Second Half
The first five minutes, the Raiders shot their way to a 16-point lead at 55-39.  That advantage grew to 23 at 64-41 as Wampler hit two free throws and a long three.  The WSU offense continued to click as they took a 30-point lead when Love broke the 20-point mark by the eight-minute break.  At the final break of the game, CSU cut into the lead as the Raiders led 79-58.  Wright State cruised to an 89-66 victory.  Love had 15 points and Wampler had 12 in the final 20 minutes.

Nagy Said
"Our kids have fought back.  We won three of five on this road trip, which gets us home now for seven of the next nine.  A big key was getting to the free throw line, which helped feed our offense and gives us confidence.  We did a good job getting the ball to Loudon, and it looks like each game, he is getting more comfortable shows he is playing with more confidence."
