Wright State (6-7) came up empty against Gardner-Webb, the hosts of this weekend's tournament. The Raiders and Bulldogs wrapped up the final game of the Gardner-Webb tournament, a round robin which was extended by a day due to rain on Friday and Sunday.
Â
The Raiders couldn't score a run in the 7-0 final. Brooke Perry threw a complete game shutout for Gardner-Webb, allowing just four hits and striking out seven. Those four Wright State hits, all singles, came from
Rebekah Lenos,
Madison Nunez,
Lauren Deitrick, and
Brianna Hutchinson.
Olivia Otani worked all six innings for the Raiders, surrendering nine hits and seven runs, but only three of them earned.
Â
For the tournament, Wright State finished 2-2 with wins against South Carolina State and Maryland Eastern-Shore.
Rebekah Lenos put together an impressive weekend, hitting 6 for 11 (.545). Her speed, in addition to her bat, caused problems for opponents. The junior legged out two triples, a double, stole two bases, and also drew three walks. The Raiders return to action on Wednesday in a doubleheader matchup against Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, before heading to Kennesaw, Georgia for their final tournament.
