@WSU_SB Splits Two at Youngstown State

After falling in game one 2-0, Wright State responded in game two with an impressive 14-6 victory thanks to an eight-run fifth inning. Raidyn Johnson led the way offensively in the second game with three hits and four RBI in the Raider win. Makenna Durieux was the pitcher of record in both games, picking up her fifth win of the year.  The Raiders are now 17-26, 4-10.
 
Game 1
Addy Jarvis picked up her 11thwin of the season for the Penguins in dominating fashion, allowing just five hits and striking out ten in the midst of a complete game shutout. Makenna Durieux started for Wright State and struck out seven while giving up three hits and a pair of runs. The Penguins scored both of their runs in the fourth inning, one on a solo home run and the other on an error.
 
Game 2
 
3rd Inning
After Youngstown State took a 2-0 lead in the second, Wright State scored their first runs of the series in a three-run third. Rebekah Lenos tallied the first Raider hit and Madison Whitaker followed with a walk. Brianna Hutchinson connected on a single back up the middle to score Lenos. Meredith Keel also drew a walk and Wright State had the bases loaded for Raidyn Johnson, who singled and scored two runs.
 
5th Inning
The Penguins tied the game in the bottom of the third and took a three-run lead after the fourth. Wright State sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight to open a big 11-6 lead. Meredith Keel led off the inning with a four-pitch walk and Raidyn Johnson sent a single to left. Madison Nunez entered the box and recorded an RBI single. Addy Jarvis took over in the circle for the Penguins and recorded two outs. Rebekah Lenos kept the inning going with another single and Raidyn Johnson scored. Madison Whitaker drew a walk, and, with the bases loaded, another walk to Brianna Hutchinson tied the game. The fourth hit of the frame came from Madison Hartman who brought in two more runs on a single to left. Meredith Keel added two more RBI on a bases clearing triple and scored the eighth run on a Raidyn Johnson RBI single.
 
7th Inning
Makenna Durieux dealt back-to-back scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth and let the offense get back to work in the seventh. The Raiders added three more runs in the final inning to claim a 14-6 victory. After Meredith Keel reached on an error, Wright State had the bases loaded with one out. Raidyn Johnson put a ball in play to score a run and Madison Nunez finished out the scoring with a single to right center which plated a pair of runs. Durieux returned to the circle in the bottom of the seventh and completed the win in a perfect inning.
 
Wright State and Youngstown State will square off on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in the rubber match to decide the series on ESPN+.  YSU is now 21-21, 9-3.
