@WSU_SB Earns a Comeback Win over Oakland

Wright State (19-26, 6-10) scored six straight runs to win an important Horizon League contest against the Oakland Grizzlies. Raidyn Johnson slugged the go-ahead run on a two-run homer over the right field fence. Makenna Durieux entered the game in the second for the Raiders and recorded 5.2 innings of shutout softball to pick up her sixth win of the year and fourth in five games.

Scoring Summary

1st Inning
Oakland promptly loaded the bases against Olivia Otani and drew three straight RBI walks to extend an early lead. The Grizzlies earned their fourth run of the frame on a sac fly to right. The Raiders scratched across a run after Madison Whitaker singled and Brianna Hutchinson drew a walk. Madison Hartman shot a ball into the left center gap for a run-scoring double.

2nd Inning
After Oakland added a pair of runs in the second, Raidyn Johnson drew a walk and Madison Nunez sent a ball back up the middle for a single. Wright State then picked up their second run of the game on a Macy McCall double to left. With just one out and two runners on scoring position, Rebekah Lenos drew a walk to load the bases for Madison Whitaker. Whitaker belted a bases clearing hit to right and the Raiders pulled within one in a 6-5 game after two innings.

3rd Inning
Makenna Durieux tossed a scoreless third and the Raider offense went back to work in the bottom half. Meredith Keel began the inning with a single and Raidyn Johnson connected for a two-run homer giving Wright State their first and only lead they would need to claim a victory.

6th Inning
Durieux continued to mow down the Grizzlies lineup and tallied her third straight shutout inning in the sixth. Rebekah Lenos drew a quick walk. After Whitaker reached on a fielders choice, Brianna Hutchinson and Meredith Keel singled to load the bases with two outs, but the Raiders couldn't add any insurance run.

7th Inning
Durieux returned for her sixth inning of work. Madison Hartman drifted into the outfield and made a tough catch for the first out. Madison Whitaker fired the ball across the diamond for the second out and Hartman caught a popup at second base to end the game.

Wright State will return to WSU Softball Field for a doubleheader against the Grizzlies on Sunday at 11:00 AM to close out the series.
