Whitaker Hits Two Over The Fence

The Wright State softball team hosted the league-leading UIC Flames in a twilight doubleheader Friday evening.  The Raiders won the first game 4-2, but dropped game two 6-1.  WSU is now 22-32, 9-14 and will host the Flames Saturday at Noon to end the regular season.

In the first game, Madison Whitaker led the way with a long homerun to left in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth for a pair of RBI.  Olivia Otani pitched seven innings, giving up one earned run and striking out two.

In game two, Madison Whitaker went yard again in the bottom of the second to tie the score at 1-1, but the Flames scored one in the sixth and four in the seventh for the win.  Raidyn Johnson added two hit for the home team.

Bottom of 2nd: Madison Whitaker homered to left field, hitting the scoreboard.

Bottom of 4th: Madison Whitaker flied out to left field, RBI; Madison Hartman scored.  Raidyn Johnson singled to pitcher; Madison Hartman advanced to third; Jordyn Poulson advanced to third, scored on a throwing error by pitcher.

Bottom of 5th: Madison Hartman flied out to center, RBI; Lauren Deitrick scored.

Game Two
Bottom of 2nd: Madison Whitaker homered to left field for her second round tripper of the day  It was her team-high fifth of the season.

The Raiders and Flames end the regular season Saturday with a single game at Noon.
