Raiders Stay Hot on the Road, Beat Bucknell 2-1

Jordyne Helinski and Brittney Petrosky scored for the Raiders as they won on the road, beating Bucknell 2-1.

Wright State held a 2-0 advantage up until the 80th minute, when junior defender Chloe Christakos headed one in the net after a well-placed free kick from Alana Carlucci.  It was the first goal allowed by Raider goalkeeper Maddie Jewell this season.  The Raiders held on the last ten minutes of the match to secure the win and remain undefeated at 3-0.

Earlier in the game, Helinski got behind the Bison defense after a long free kick from Michelle Rings, and finished off the breakaway to open the scoring in the 28th minute. Petrosky would follow suit in the 50th minute when she punched in a rebound from close range for what proved to be the winning goal.

Bucknell lost their second in a row and fell to 1-2. They lost to Pittsburgh on Sunday 1-0 in overtime.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Bison piled up 15 corner kicks, compared to the Raiders four.
  • Shots were even at 13, but Bucknell only managed one in the frame.  WSU had four for the game.
  • Petrosky notched her second goal of the season following a redshirt year.
HEAD COACH PAT FERGUSON
"Any time you get a win on the road in division I it's a positive.  Bucknell is a good team so we're very happy with the victory.  Once again the players gave a full effort to the end."
