Box Score The Wright State women's soccer team was held to eight shots on Friday night as Jackie Santibanez scored a pair of goals and host UIC handed the Raiders a 2-0 loss in the Horizon League opener for Wright State. UIC is now 2-0 in league play after a week of action.
Santibanez put the hosts ahead early in the 17
th minute and the game remained that way through the remainder of the first half and into the second 45 minutes before she capitalized again in the 77
th minute. Santibanez played a long pass and evaded Wright State goalkeeper
Maddie Jewell before scoring on an open net to extend the advantage in the second half.
Friday's loss was the first time Wright State has dropped its Horizon League opening match since the 2010 season, which also came on the road in Chicago, when the Raiders fell to former league member Loyola 2-1 in double overtime. Wright State had been 4-0-4 in the eight years between Friday night's league-opening loss and the defeat to begin the 2010 conference campaign.
