Wright State softball recorded their first win of the 2020 season Saturday morning in Martin, Tennessee over future Horizon League opponent Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Mastodons took the lead in top of the second inning on a two-run home run from Camryn Mosher, before the scoring started for Wright State. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Lauren Deitick was hit by a pitch, advancing all runners which allowed
Emily Daniel to score before
Grace Gressly was walked allowing
Raidyn Johnson to score, tying things up at 2-2.
The next three innings would be quiet for both teams as they battled before Wright State senior
Rebekah Lenos' single up the middle would drive in
Erniey Hursey to take the lead for the Raiders. Wright State's defense took control in the top of the seventh inning to help
Carly Turner sit down all three Mastodons she faced.Â
Both teams finished the contest leaving five runners on base and just four hits apiece. Wright State recorded two stolen bases to Fort Wayne's zero.
Sophomore
Carly Turner recorded the win in the circle allowing four hits, two runs and striking out three Mastodons in seven innings of work.
