Wright State falls to Ohio State Saturday

The Wright State softball fell to in state foe, Ohio State 13-0 Saturday morning on the final day of the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona. The Buckeyes used a 7-0 inning in the top of the second to set the tone for the contest.

Ohio State started the scoring early as Andi Farrah's RBI triple down the right field line got the Buckeyes on the board and a Niki Carver RBI single drove in another run.

The Buckeyes returned to the plate in the top of the second as Carly Gaskill's sac bunt led off the inning before a Meg Otte single up the middle drove in the first run of the inning. Andi Farrah's RBI double and Avery Clark's RBI single added two more runs for Ohio State. Nikki Carver's RBI double drove in another Buckeye setting up Kaitlyn Coffman's RBI triple. Claire Nicholson's RBI single added Ohio State's final run of the inning.

The third inning would be quiet for both sides before Ohio State added a run in the top of the fourth by way of a Raider error. Wright State looked to answer as Brianna Hutchinson was hit by a pitch followed by a Payton Baxter single to left field but would leave two runners on.

Sam Hackenbracht's solo homerun led off the fifth inning for Ohio State followed by a Taylor Pack RBI single down the right field line. Back-to-back batters hit by a pitch would bring in the final run for Ohio State. The Raiders would go down in order to finish the inning.

Carly Turner would record the loss for the Raiders after allowing nine runs off of 11 hits in 2.0 innings pitched. Olivia Otani saw action in the circle for Wright State allowing four runs off of five hits in 3.0 innings pitch, striking out one Buckeye in the process.

Wright State returns home to take on cross-town foe Dayton in a double header on Friday, March 13. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Dayton.
