Women's Soccer set for final regular season road trip

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team plays on the road for the final time this regular season as the Raiders travel north to take on Oakland Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. start. Sunday's match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

The Raiders (4-8-3, 2-4-2 HL) are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss Thursday night, their third consecutive 2-1 defeat and fifth straight 2-1 game overall, while Oakland has won seven in a row and enters Sunday with an 8-7-1 overall mark and a 7-0-1 Horizon League record.
With three matches remaining in the regular season, the Raiders currently sit eighth in the Horizon League standings with eight points, one point back of Youngstown State and Cleveland State, who enter Sunday tied for the final postseason spot.
After Sunday, Wright State closes the regular season with back-to-back home matches at Alumni Field, beginning October 23 against UIC before a October 27 matchup with Northern Kentucky.
Destiny Johnson's four goals leads the Raider offense, while Olga Massombo and Josie Krupp have each added three goals of their own. Brittney Petrosky's 22 shots paces the Raiders in the category, while six other players have recorded double-digit shot attempts to date: Johnson (21), Massombo (18), Lauren Borchert (18), Michelle Rings (16), Kaylin Helinski (16) and Josie Krupp (15). Borchert has a team-leading 14 attempts on frame so far this season.
Oakland returns home after back-to-back 3-0 road wins, while seeing Sami Lopez pace the offense with eight goals and 22 points. Alexa Sabbagh's 35 shots and 21 on goal leads the team in both categories.
