Raiders Dominate, cruise past Robert Morris Thursday

Lauren Borchert and Josie Krupp each recorded a brace for the Raiders as the Wright State women's soccer team defeated Robert Morris in a convincing 4-0 win on the road in Moon Township Thursday morning.
Wright State improves to 3-3-0 overall (3-3-0 HL) with the victory, while Robert Morris falls to 1-5-0 overall (1-5-0 HL).
The Raiders looked to score early in the first half, tallying 11 shots, six on goal to the Colonials four, one on goal over the 45 minute period. Kaylin Helinski's shot in the 7th minute went high over the top of the net, before Lauren Borchert's shot in the 15th minute down the middle was saved by RMU's keeper. Wright State attempted to break the scoreless match three more times before Borchert connected on a pass from Olga Massombo in the 31st minute for her first goal of the match and second of the season. The Colonials tried to even the score in the 44th minute, but Jessika Seward made her first save of the contest.
The start of the second half was quiet as both teams tried to find the difference-maker, but were unsuccessful. With just over twenty minutes to play, Josie Krupp netted her first goal of the contest as she connected on a pass from Maddie Mitchell in the 68th minute, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage. Less than a minute later, Robert Morris' shot down the middle was saved by Seward for her second save of the contest. Krupp continued the scoring efforts for the Raiders when the junior's 85th-minute goal gave Wright State the advantage with five minutes left to play. Borchert's goal in the 87th minute gave Wright State a 4-0 advantage and marked the freshman's third goal in two games and her first career brace.
Notably, Thursday's contest marked Seward's first career shutout.
