Wright State welcomes UIC on Wednesday

The Wright State women's soccer team returns to Alumni Field as they welcome UIC for a 1 p.m. afternoon matchup on Wednesday.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State – The Raiders dropped their second contest of the season to the #HLWSOC preseason favorites Milwaukee, 3-0. Just two minutes into the match, redshirt freshman Jessika Seward tallied her first of two saves. Wright State looked to answer taking three consecutive shots, two of which were spotted by the Panthers keeper. Milwaukee would go on to score three unanswered goals, with the first coming just five minutes before the break. Wright State tallied a close 10 shots to Milwaukee's 11, with four being on goal to the Panthers six.
UIC – The Flames tallied their third consecutive victory over HL newcomer Robert Morris, 3-1. Savannah Jackson tallied two goals for UIC while Leah Senese recorded the Flames third. Jackson scored first, late in a first half that saw Robert Morris put six shots on goal. Senese put the Flames up 2-0, but the Colonials pulled one back six minutes later before Jackson recorded a brace in the 86th minute. UIC matched their season highs with 20 shots and 10 on goal. RMU's 13 shots and eight on goal were the most by a Flames opponent this year.

SCOUTING THE FLAMES
- Reigning Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year Lena Kurz returns for her second season after posting 10 shutouts a season ago. Janai Cedeno, who started every match also returns, was second on the team in minutes played, and helped anchor a defense that finished in the top 20 nationally in four categories.
- UIC had the second strongest defense in the Horizon League a season ago. The Flames allowed 10 goals during the 2019 regular season, just behind first-place Milwaukee's eight.
- The Flames finished the 2019 regular season 12-6-1 overall, with a 7-2 mark in conference play while also making an appearance in the Horizon League Championship Game. Heading into the spring 2021 season, the Flames were picked third (112 votes, 1 first-place vote) in the preseason poll.
