
Women's soccer set for final home contest Tuesday

The Wright State women's soccer team is set to welcome Youngstown State for its final home contest of the spring season, as the Raiders welcome the Penguins to Alumni Field for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State – The Raiders are coming off a 1-0 loss to Oakland last Wednesday at Alumni Field. The Raiders looked to score first as Olga Massombo's shot in the 7th minute connected with the left post and went wide. Less than two minutes later, Oakland looked to break the scoreline as Jackie Reilly's shot went high over the top of the net. Lauren Borchert looked to attack early just a minute into the second half as her shot to the center of the net was saved. Oakland looked to make its mark in the 57th minute, as Jessika Seward recorded her second save of the day. The Golden Grizzlies found the advantage with just 10 minutes left as Macey Wierenga's shot from nearly 20 yards out connected with the back of the net.
Youngstown State – The Penguins are coming off a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Horizon League leader IUPUI on Wednesday. Junior goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj was impressive in her season debut in the net recording eight saves and facing a total of 23 shots. Youngstown State took just four total shots with three shots on goal - two by Regan LaVigna and one by Angelina Schilling. Marcella Sizer's game-winning attempt in the 103rd minute sailed just wide left.

SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
- Youngstown State was predicted to finish eighth in the Horizon League preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. The Penguins, who finished 4-13-1 and 2-7 in the Horizon League in the fall of 2019, received 51 points for eighth place.
- With her three goals this season, sophomore Marcella Sizer has posted eight goals during her career. She is approaching the YSU career top 10 list and needs two more goals to move into a tie for 10th place on the list. She also has 19 career points and needs three more to move into a tie for 10th with 22.
- The Penguins return 17 letterwinners and eight starters from the 2019 squad. Sophomore Marcella Sizer was named All-Horizon League Second-Team and All-Freshman Team after leading the Penguins with five goals and 13 points. Sophomore Regan LaVigna led the team and tied the YSU freshman single-season assist record with four. Senior Kate McEachern logged more than 1,385 minutes in goal and posted 94 saves and three shutouts.
