8/10/2021 11:45:00 AM | Men's Basketball
DAYTON – The Wright State men's basketball team and head coach Scott Nagy announced the Raiders' 2021-22 non-conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
"Our non-conference schedule will be competitive and entertaining for our fans," Nagy said. "We will be challenged both at home and on the road. We also look forward to being a part of the 2021 Naples Invitational. This schedule will get us prepared for a tough Horizon League slate that starts as early as December this year."
Season ticket renewals are happening now, with opportunities to become a new season ticket holder, purchase mini plans and single game tickets set to go on sale in the coming months.Â
Â
The Raiders will open the 2021-22 campaign at home inside the Nutter Center on November 9 against Lake Erie College, the team's lone home contest in the month of November. Wright State's non-conference home slate is also set to include meetings with in-state foe Akron as well as Tennessee Tech in mid-December.
Â
Wright State will have three true road non-conference games, beginning with a visit to Marshall on November 12, while the Raiders will make the trip to take on Purdue on November 16 and later wrap up non-conference play with a trek to NC State on December 22. The Raiders will also make a trip to Florida just before the Thanksgiving holiday, taking part in the 2021 Naples Invitational on November 22-24.
Â
The 2021-22 Horizon League conference schedule will be released by the League at a later date.

Â
Lake Erie (Nov. 9, Nutter Center) Wright State will face Lake Erie for the first time in program history to open the season. In its history, Wright State is a combined 43-8 all-time in home openers in the two home venues in program history. Since opening the Nutter Center on December 1, 1990, Wright State is 24-7 in home openers.
Â
Marshall (Nov. 12, Huntington, WV) The Raiders and Marshall will meet for the second straight season, but just the fourth time in program history. Marshall finished 15-7 during the shortened 2020-2021 campaign. Wright State trails in the short all-time series, 1-2.
Â
Purdue (Nov. 16, West Lafayette, IN) Wright State and Purdue will square off for the first time in program history when the Raiders make the trip to Mackey Arena. Purdue was 18-10 overall last season in the shortened year, losing in the opening round of both the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments.
Â
Naples Invitational (Nov. 22-24, Naples, FL) The Raiders will travel to Naples, FL for three games in the 2021 Naples Invitational. The Naples Invitational field is limited to mid-major programs and the eight-team field features seven teams who have earned NCAA Tournament bids in the past decade. Wright State will take on George Washington from the A-10 in its opening game, followed by either Kent State or James Madison in the second matchup. ETSU, Murray State, Missouri State and Long Beach State are on the opposite side of the bracket. Â
Akron (Dec. 15, Nutter Center) Wright State and Akron will meet for the 22nd time in program history, but the first time since December 31, 2005. Akron was 15-8 in the shortened 2020-21 season, ending the year in the MAC Tournament semifinals. The Raiders trail 9-12 in the all-time series, which began in January 1974 with a Wright State home game.
Â
Tennessee Tech (Dec. 18, Nutter Center) The Raiders will take on Tennessee Tech for just the second time in program history, completing a home-and-home series that began with a Wright State road win in November 2019. Tennessee Tech was 5-22 overall last season in the shortened year.
Â
NC State (Dec. 21, Raleigh, NC) Wright State and NC State are set to meet on the hardwood for the first time in program history with the Raider trip to North Carolina. NC State was 14-11 overall last season in the shortened year, losing in the opening round of the ACC Tournament and the second round of the NIT.
